Golden Eagle for filmmaker Larry Locke

Dream Builders from Larry Locke on Vimeo.

Documentary filmmaker Larry Locke, who has trained his lens on Bridgeport quite a few times, just won a Cine Golden Eagle for “Dream Makers,” which is the story of two men, Peter M. Lehrer and Gene McGovern, who rose from the streets of New York to create a partnership that would oversee and build the most important projects in the world, including the renovation of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Canary Wharf and Euro Disney. At the very height of their success, they lost everything.

A screening of the film at the University of Bridgeport is set for Thursday, Sept. 16.

In Bridgeport, Locke is remembered for his film on John Fabrizi, “The Accidental Mayor,” And a few years back, when the Connecticut Post was first trying out video on their website, it was a beautifully crafted Larry Locke film, featuring our then-managing editor Mike Daly and his recollections about Pleasure Beach, that started us off.
