Those art jaunts can be so lonely, particularly when you live in the Connecticut, but the art is in the lower Hudson Valley. But remember how much fun those class trips used to be in elementary school? Hey, getting there was half the fun. (Sometimes, depending on the destination, it was the only fun.)
Real Art Ways in Hartford will help you re-live those precious memories with a day trip with like-minded art lovers to the Dia:Beacon, that Dia outpost that turned a giant empty factory space into a home for numerous installations — the kind you can’t just stick into your normal downtown gallery.
There are many smaller, cool galleries along the main drag there, too, although not necessarily the ones closest to the museum. There are one or two interesting spots on lower Main Street, but some gifty spots of no interest to Real Art Ways members. Hunt a little, roam up the street for a few blocks.
