The Walsh Art Gallery exhibit, “Sylvia Wald: Seven Decades,” opens with a reception 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, and remains on view through Sunday, March 18. This is a comprehensive survey of an accomplished artist (1915-2011) who spend a lifetime experimenting and innovating with silk screening. Over time, she “developed a highly personal approach in her use of unusual materials in her later three-dimensional works,” the press release tells us.
Wald’s works have graced the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
